Measuring soil pH and temperature - the basics of growing.

• All plants need a balanced diet of nutrients (food) to grow. However, plants only have access to nutrients if the pH (potential hydrogen) of your growing medium falls within the correct range.
• Contrary to popular belief, all growers should measure pH, whether you are growing in soil or in a solution. This is because pH plays an important role in making your nutrients soluble so that they can be absorbed by your plants. If your environment is too alkaline or too acidic, your plants will not be able to get all the nutrients they need. Temperature is also important, as it can affect the structure and growth rate of your plants.
